Consular (General) Assistant Trainee (Naha) The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo is seeking a Consular (General) Assistant Trainee in the Consular Section, Consulate General Naha.

  1. Education: Two years of college education. 
  2. Prior Work Experience: 1 year in an office position requiring complex research and documentary analysis. 
  3. Language Proficiency: Level IV* (fluent) English and Japanese. 
  4. Knowledge: Basic office procedures. Knowledge of computer applications such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Must understand consular procedures regulations, DOS policy. Thorough knowledge of similar Japanese laws. Working knowledge of U.S. military organizations. 
  5. Skills and Abilities: Typing 40wpm. Ability to work with both American (civilian and military) and Japanese (civilian and government) contacts. Ability to exercise sound judgment and to perform moderately complex research and documentary analysis.
