Japanese Diplomat Guilty of Spousal Abuse in America

A verdict has been reached in a case that Black Tokyo reported in December 2012. According to the San Francisco Gate:

"A San Francisco-based Japanese diplomat who pleaded no contest to domestic violence charges was ordered Monday to serve a year in jail.Yoshiaki Nagaya, a vice consul at the Japanese consulate in San Francisco, was sentenced by a San Mateo County Superior Court judge. He pleaded no contest to two counts of domestic violence in December,Nagaya, 33, was originally charged with more than a dozen counts of domestic violence for injuries to his wife, Yuka, but a judge dropped one count and prosecutors dismissed the rest as part of a plea deal. Nagaya must report to jail on May 4, but he is eligible to serve the time through an alternative work furlough program, officials said."
